Volumetric Unit

A three-dimensional preassembled/prefabricated unit which encloses usable space but does not constitute a whole building, where each factory finished module incorporates elements of the superstructure such that when the completed modules are interconnected to each on site there is no requirement for any additional supporting superstructure. Typically the modules incorporate RHS corner colums with either UBS or light gauge steel roof and floor beams. Floors are always suspended and are usually constructed from light gauge steel floor joists with a timber deck. These modules can be pre-finished in the factory to include all fixtures and fittings, requiring a very limited amount of installation work on site.
