Sustainability - understanding the drivers

The NHBC Foundation has recently published ‘Conserving energy and water, and minimising waste’ which reviewed the legislative and regulatory drivers aimed at  combating climate change and conserving natural resources, considering their likely impacts. The research is designed to help housebuilders, their advisors and suppliers to understand the implications of the changes and to plan to take account of them.

This is the first detailed presentation of the drivers which are affecting these three environmental aspects of sustainability, with useful presentations of the requirements set down by global, European and UK initiatives. It also provides reviews of the tools and methodologies that are applied today, coupled with available technologies to support energy and water conservation and minimise waste.

There’s a very useful section explaining how the devolved administrations in the UK are taking things forward. If you would like to receive a copy of the ‘Conserving energy and water, and minimising waste’ please contact the NHBC Foundation Press Office on 01494 735785 or email ssahota@nhbc.co.uk.
